[Two women sitting on Castle Rock]

1889

Two young women sitting on Castle Rock, view to the south. Town of Castle Rock is visible in the distance. The women are wearing white shirts, long skirts, and have hats. Prominent buildings visible in the town include the Denver and Rio Grand Depot, the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Depot, the Castle Rock Methodist Church, the Douglas County Courthouse (under construction), the livery stable, the City Hotel, the Catholic Church, the Hammar House, the Holcomb and Whitney Store, and the Christiansen house. East Plum Creek, Sellar's Gulch, the Denver and Rio Grand and Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroads, and Dawson Butte can be seen. Waterways appear to be flooding.
