Arrangement of the Collection

Collection is arranged chronologically by meeting at the folder level. The collection retains its original order within the folders. Undated items are in the first folder.

Scope and Content

Beginning in 1989, Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) began distributing funds from a 1/10 of 1% sales and use tax (one penny on every $10) to cultural facilities throughout the seven-county Denver metropolitan area, including Douglas County. Each county designates a representative to the SCFD board of directors, and appoints members to its own county Council to review Tier III grant applications and make allocations of funds. The Douglas County Cultural Council was formed in 1989, with council members appointed by the Douglas County Commissioners. In 1993, the Douglas County Cultural Council distributed $20,216.

The records are those sent to Sally Maguire during her term on the council, and include notes made at meetings. Almost all materials are typewritten and in good condition.
