The manuscript/small items collection is arranged by accession number. Within the folder, the collection is arranged by subject and chronologically within subjects.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of certificates that Charles Lewis Herzog received while he was in elementary school in Parker, Colorado. There is a Certificate of Promotion for each grade, from first to sixth, 1915 - 1920. Each certificate includes his course grades and overall grade. A Certificate of Award for Punctual and Regular Attendance was issued for perfect attendance and Lewis received seven certificates, for the years 1915 - 1919 and 1921 - 1922. He received his Colorado Public Schools Diploma for completing elementary school in 1922. The documents include the names of his teachers and the Douglas County superintendent.

1909 Charles Lewis Herzog born in Telluride, Colorado to Charles and Esther C. (Lewis) Herzog

1910 Herzog family moved to Parker

1915 Lewis attended Parker School and received first certificate and award Parker Consolidated School was formed to combine the districts of Pine Grove (District 10), Allison (District 18) and Plainfield (District 29)

1922 Lewis received diploma upon completion of elementary school.

Acquisition Information

The Douglas County Historical Society was the main historical institution in Douglas County during its existence. The members of the historical society provided historical information, and when the society disbanded in 1992, several of them continued to participate in the county’s historical community through other organizations. The Douglas County Historical Society’s paper based collections provided the nucleus for the Douglas County History Research Center Collection when the society disbanded.
