Abstract:Collection consists of educational and religious reading material for the Jones family. Books and pamphlets were primarily used by both Coit Bennet Jones and one of her sons, Douglas D. Jones. The Jones family resided in Douglas County during the early twentieth century, and this collection reflects, to a certain degree, the selected personal readings by the family.

Contains 2 miniature photographs, 1 puzzle, 17 booklets and pamphlets, and 22 books. Items are centered on education, early childhood literacy, religious readings, and gospel music.


Biography / History

1892 Coit Bennet was born in Norton, Kansas.

1897 John M. Jones was born in 1897 in Illinois.

1918 John M. Jones and Coit Bennet are married in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

1919 John M. and Coit have first child, John D. Jones.

1922 John M. and Coit have second child, Douglas D. Jones.

1981 John M. passes away.

1982 Coit passes away.
