Arrangement of the Collection

Files are arranged by subject. Newspapers and Issues of the Perry Park Panorama are arranged chronologically.

Scope and Content

The newspaper articles and newsletters were collected by Julius Pickoff, through his dealings with the Colorado Western Development Company. Topics in the newspaper articles include the development of Perry Park, the lawsuit and arrest warrants against Lee Stubblefield, Ramon Jerrell's attempts to evict the Country Club from the Manor House, and articles about the general growth of Douglas County.

The collection also contains some letters and documents relating to the Perry Park Metro District, the Perry Park Water and Sanitation District, and homeowners' attempts to communicate to Douglas County and Colorado State Government about traffic issues.


Biography / History

1967: Boyd Cousins sells Perry Park to Colorado Western Development Company

Sept. 1968: First residents of Perry Park move in. First issue of Panorama published. Manor House Remodeled.

1969: Filings 2-5 approved.

1970: Filings 7 and 9 approved. Echo Hills Townhomes begin construction. Echo Hills club begins construction.

1971: Sage Port filing 2 approved. Cousins lodge converted to chapel. Golf course opens.

1972: Echo Hills Club opens.

1973: Echo Village Townhomes opens.

By 1974: 147 homes constructed. 44 under construction. 112 planned.Lake Wauconda gets new dam. Manor House and Stables open to homeowners.

c.1975: Homeowners Association formed.

c.1977: Perry Park becomes a Metro District. Lawsuit brought against Stubblefield for breech of contract

1979: Warrant issued to arrest Stubblefield for failure to appear. Warrant and case are overturned in appellate court. Jerrell attempts to evict the Perry Park Country Club.

1980: Water and Road Issues in Perry Park begin to fall to the Homeowners.

1988: Echo Hills Club Vandalized.

Douglas County History Research Center material is non-circulating, requires staff retrieval and is available by appointment during normal library hours.

One folder of the collection contains restricted information about an archaeological site in Douglas County. To view the file, permission must be obtained from the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation at the Colorado Historical Society.

Copy Restrictions

The collection is used in the presence of Douglas County History Research Center staff. Some items may be fragile and may only be duplicated with the permission of the Center's staff.
