Scope and Content

The collection documents Mark Weston's involvement in the Douglas County Open Lands Coalition and the Douglas County Planning Commission from 1992-1994. The main components of the collection are the Douglas County Open Lands Coalition financial and organizational records and materials relating to the McLain Pit, and sales tax surveys from Douglas and Jefferson Counties.

Information regarding Centennial Materials Application for Mineral Extraction in the McLain Pit near Franktown arrived in the collection in September of 1999. Several citizen's groups protested the approval of the pit to the County Commissioners and the Planning Office, who approved the application. The case eventually went to court, which decided in favor of the pit.
