Papers are arranged alphabetically by subject. Visual materials are stored separately, and are arranged by format (negatives, prints, slides)

Scope and Content

Collection contains materials relating to the development and upkeep of Rock Park in Castle Rock, Colorado. Papers in the collection relate to the management and creation of the park, including meeting minutes and master plans. The collection also contains 5 binders of visual materials documenting various repair projects in Rock Park around the period 1988-1992. Two Eagle Scout projects are particularly detailed, involving work on trails. Many of the images also pertain to botanical life in Rock Park at various seasons throughout the year. A few images of animals (foxes, mule deer, chipmunks and birds) are also available.


Biography / History

In 1988 the town of Castle Rock established Rock Park for the purpose of preserving for public use and enjoyment some sixty acres surrounding the geologic feature known as Castle Rock. The town of Castle Rock is named after this important natural landmark. Castle Rock is highly visible from Interstate 25 and much of central Douglas County.
