Abstract:Adam Martz (1850-1932) came to Colorado from Illinois in the late 1800's. He owned a ranch on Garber Creek, in the mountains near Sedalia.

The collection is arranged chronologically.

Scope and Content

There are two diaries from Adam Martz in the collection; the diaries are from 1873 and 1908. The diaries are handwritten, and speak mostly of his work activities, but have references to his social life as well, including membership in the Oddfellow's lodge and at least one dance he attended.


Biography / History

1873 - Adam Martz lives in Grand Rapids, Illinois. (see journal)

1902 - Adam enters a homestead on July 28th in Section 19, T8S R68W. The transaction is cancelled in 1910.

1908 - Adam is living near Sedalia, CO. (see journal)
