Abstract:William Kirby was a writer for the Douglas County Television series "Legends and Oddities and a volunteer for the Douglas County History Research Center. The collection contains his research for the tv series, as well as his research on other Douglas County history topics.

Arrangement of the Collection

Collection follows the original order of the creator. Arranged by the series "Legends and Oddities" in alphabetical order of the folder title. After the series "Legends and Oddities" the folders are arranged by subject in alphabetical order. Photographs are arranged numerically in one folder at the end of the collection.

Scope and Content

Collection arranged following the original order of the creator. The series "Legends & oddities" are comprised of Kirby's research, research notes and scripts for the Legends and Oddities film series produced by Douglas County Television. Research subjects include the following subjects as they related to Douglas County: B-17 bomber accident, ghosts, unidentified flying objects, Paleo-Indians, tuberculosis, gold mining, and ghost towns. A large part of the Legends & oddities research is photocopied newspaper articles and information from the Douglas County History Research Center. The Legends and Oddities research includes photographs of the B-17 crash site from 2002.

The collection also contains a folder of his correspondence, photos and research about the architecture of Douglas County, minutes from the Douglas County Historic Preservation Board, and an unpublished document titled Wildflowers of Castlewood Canyon.
