Biography / History

21 Nov 1996 - Happy Canyon Partners Announce that they will donate 100 acres to the Douglas County Soccer Association for up to 25 new soccer fields. This donation is contingent upon whether the county will approve a development plan on approximately 5,500 acres.

18 Dec 1996 - Residents of the current Happy Canyon area attend a Douglas County high plateau study meeting and voice their displeasure about Happy Canyon Partners' proposed development. They raise concerns about water and infrastructure issues.

7 Jan 1997 - Happy Canyon Partners files a pre-application with Douglas County for plan development zoning and an amendment to the county's master plan. Details of the plan are finally revealed by Happy Canyon Partners such as the number of houses and the amount of comercial space.

13 Jan 1997 - The town councils of Castle Rock, Parker, and Lone Tree hold a joint meeting to discuss the Happy Canyon proposal. Parker and Castle Rock raise concerns that the proposal lises within their towns' areas of influence. They decide to draft a joint resolution stating that they are against any major urbanization outside of municipalities.

21 Jan 1997 - The Parker Town Council approves a resolution opposing the Happy Canyon Project.

23 Jan 1997 - The Castle Rock Town Council approves a resolution opposing any further urbanization in Douglas County's high plateau study area. The propsed Happy Canyon development resides within this study area.
